First Refugee Camp Set To Be Launched In Paris

Due to the unrest in the world, especially in the Middle Eastern countries, many people have been displaced from their homes and are in search of refuge. Many neighboring and nearby countries have taken and welcomed thousands of refugees into their countries and are providing medical care, food and shelter. France is one of these countries and has taken a high number of refugees, Paris which is the capital of France is set to open its first refugee camp in mid-October. They are technically two camps, one for the men and the other for women and children.

Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo has said that refugees will be able to stay in the camp for five to ten days and in these days they will receive psychological and medical care. She also said that the site would follow all United Nations regulations and would provide everything necessary to the homeless migrants. As mentioned earlier two camps will be setup, one for the men will be built in an old railway site in the North of city whereas the second one for women and children will be setup in Ivry-Sur-Seine in the Southeast of Paris.

Mayor Anne Hidalgo said that she was inspired by the work at Grande-Synthe in Dunkirk which was the country’s first internationally recognized refugee camp. The refugee camp will feature wooden cabins that can house 2500 people. The refugee camp will certainly help the migrants to find temporary homes where they can get food, shelter and medical care. The camp will also allow the country and the city to manage the migrants as all of them will be in one place.

Other countries that have taken in refugees should also consider make refugee camps as they make things easier for the migrants as well as the hosts. According to the United Nations refugee agency UNHCR death are up more than a third compared to last year and that is why the need for refugee camps is growing. More than 204,000 people have arrived to Europe by sea, out of which 47,000 have entered Italy and the rest 156,000 have found their way to Greece.

France is the country which opened its doors for Syrian refugees at the time of crises and at the moment there are many Syrians currently living in France. Apart from France these refuges also went to other countries of the world like Saudi Arabia and Norway as well. France is already home to many immigrants from other countries of the world whether it is Algeria, Pakistan or India etc. A country catering so many immigrants already must be facing difficulty as far as the Syrian influx is concerned.
